Psalm of Strength During Distress

Psalms, Prayers, and Devotionals

Dear Lord,

Blessed be the name of Jehovah, both now and forever.  Before pride rises up, before I retaliate wrong for wrong, may the Lord restrain me.  Calm me, my Lord.  Soothe my blood pressure, that the constant noise and ruckus around me does not affect my soul.  Thank You for giving me a peace at the core of my being and a path to find my way back to it.

My sighs are heavy, but I remind myself that my time to be freed from this realm draws closer.  My life is but a vapor before thee.  Sustain me during my short season and make my life to be worth something.  Condemn me not utterly, but grant me some reprieve.  Thank You for being such a gracious Master to me.

Where there is hope, let there also be laughter.  The spiritual light shines upon the children of men.  Where there is laughter, let there also be dancing; not the kind of Soul Train lust seen on television, but dancing for joy to the Lord, leaping like a hart in a gay and merry spirit of thanksgiving.

Lord, You give me strength to fight another day, to breathe another breath, and to keep my life in perspective.  I pray for all the nuanced things necessary to bring about Your plan and Your Kingdom on earth.  Lord, You are my private Lover.  What we share is intimate and romantic.  Make me a faithful witness for You, a diligent worker who receives the bounty of Your Grace.  In Jesus’ Name.  Amen.
